Second drug-testing lab work begins in Odisha

One acre land provided by the state to set up the lab. The second drug testing lab is being set up near Kainsir Road in Singhpali locality and six months time period target is given to the PWD(Public Works Department) to complete its construction work.

Sambalpur Satyanarayan Malik, drugs Inspector said that the Public Works Department is working to construct laboratory building and the project costs Rs 15 crore. He also added once the project gets completed, requisite equipment will be installed and procured to make the laboratory functional. When the lab becomes operational, then samples of drugs from 10 districts of western Odisha can be tested first.

Advanced equipment will be purchased to get high-quality results with maximum accuracy. Besides testing of drugs, testing of antibiotics, cosmetics, and vaccines will also be conducted at the lab by skilled technicians. Advanced and experienced technicians will be hired to do the quality control tests of almost every medicine available in the market.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has put the foundation stone for the project during his visit to the district on February 1 this year.
