Vadodara/Anand: Karamsad-based Charutar Arogya Mandal (CAM) has signed a MoU with National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) of the State Health Society, Gujarat for providing technical support for implementing Ayushman Bharat programme in Dahod district.
Only four institutes in the country have been selected by the Centre for providing technical support to the project with the other being – AIIMS, New Delhi, Jan Swasthya Sahyog, Bilaspur and Catholic Health Association of India, Telangana.
Touted to be world’s largest funded government health project – Ayushman Bharat programme – will provide comprehensive healthcare, including non-communicable diseases, communicable disease and maternal and child health services at primary level.
Under this, a total of 1.5 lakh centres in the country will be upgraded as health and wellness centre to provide comprehensive primary healthcare to citizens. The centres will also provide free essential drugs and diagnostic services.
CAM’s chief executive officer Sandeep Desai, extension programme head Dr Shyamsundar Raithatha and mission director of National Health Mission, Gujarat Dr Gaurav Dahiya were present when the agreement was signed.
Earlier, the mandal was selected as an innovation and learning centre for providing technical support to the government at national and state level to roll-out Ayushman Bharat programme’s comprehensive health and wellness centre initiative.
NHSRC had received several entries from across the country.
“CAM is selected on the basis of work done under Shree Krishna Hospital’s programme for advancement of rural and social health (SPARSH),” said Desai.
SPARSH is an innovative programme which is being implemented in 150 villages of Anand, Kheda and Panchmahal districts for diagnosing and treating non-communicable diseases among people.
Ayushman Bharat programme will be managed by National Health Protection Mission Agency at national level with states and Union territories advised to implement the scheme through a dedicated entity called state health agency.
“Our technical team will scrutinize the need of upgradation of sub-centres, health need of the community members and their issues and provide technical assistance and guidance to government functionaries,” said Raithatha.
