GRP Seized 10.87 Lakh Ml Of Oxytocin Worth Rs 1.94 Cr At Charbagh Railway Station

Lucknow:  GRP has seized banned drug Oxytocin worth Rs 1.94 crore at Charbagh railway station in the capital Lucknow. It was recovered from the parcel office of Lucknow Junction station. The drug was brought from Bihar by Chhapra-Lucknow Junction Express. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.

Charbagh GRP in-charge Mukesh Singh said that this action has been taken under ‘Operation Satark’. On November 14, information was received from an informer that banned oxytocin drug is being brought illegally to Lucknow by 15053 Chhapra-Lucknow Junction Express. This drug is in a shipment of 43 Cartoons. Five Cartoons have been taken by the party and the rest are reaching Lucknow.

Showing alertness on this, the team of Sub-Inspector Prashant Singh Yadav inspected the parcel office at 2 pm. 38 Cartoons were recovered, which had no receiver. Complete details of the parcel packets were obtained from Sanjeev Chaudhary, Commercial Superintendent of Northeast Railway Lucknow Division, in which details of sending the packets and to whom they were sent were found.

The team kept waiting for the receiver of the packages. But, no one came to receive them. After this, GRP seized the banned drug. It was further told that a total of 10.87 lakh ml of suspected oxytocin has been recovered. Its cost is said to be Rs 1,93,73,904. Santosh Singh, a resident of Chhapra, Bihar was named as the sender of the parcel and it was sent to Ram Lautan, a resident of Sitapur.

In such a situation, considering the names printed on the packets and the possibility of many more people being involved in this smuggling, GRP has registered a case under the Railway Act. Along with two named accused, a case has been filed against others under the Railway Act.
