Kolkata: In response to assault on doctors, surgeon opens beauty parlour

KOLKATA: In a response to the rising incidents of doctors being beaten up Dr Niladri Biswas, an orthpaedic surgeon and a resident of Naihati has started a unisex beauty parlour at Barasat town as his substitute profession.

Dr. Biswas announced about his plan of opening up a unisex beauty parlour on the Facebook page of West Bengal Doctors’ Forum. In the Facebook post he stated that several incidents of doctors being beaten up in hospitals and harassed have prompted him to search for a substitute profession.

The beauty parlour offers 30% discount on services for the health fraternity and their family members.

Sources from the West Bengal Orthopaedic Association confirmed that Biswas completed his MBBS from the NRS Medical College and MS (Orthopaedics) from the R G Kar Medical College, Kolkata.

As a young Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Biswas is already very successful. He has never faced any adverse situation in this medical profession till now and that is why people are surprised over his decision of a substitute profession.

Dr Biswas however said, “I am not abandoning my medical peofession as of now. But if the parlour does well, I may stop seeing patients at all.”
