City-based doctor elected as international chair of AOSpine

Coimbatore: City-based orthopaedic and spine surgeon Dr Rajasekaran would take over as the international chair of AOSpine, the world’s largest body of spine surgeons. He is the first ever person from Asia Pacific region to have been elected to this position. Rajasekaran, who works with Ganga Hospital in the city, would take over the new position at Basel in Switzerland on Friday.

AOSpine is the largest international society of spine surgeons with more than 8,000 members around the world.

Dr Rajasekaran would take over as the international chair at a meeting to be held in Switzerland. The term is for three years, during which he would oversee all the activities of AOSpine.

During his tenure, Rajasekaran wants to introduce clinical practice forums to bring together expert spine surgeons on specific diseases conditions from around the world to bring in standard practice protocols and appropriate guidelines across the world.
